As expected , Green Bay ended up as # 1 .

However, in the last few weeks of the season New England & New Orleans played the best .

Don’t be surprised if they both end up in the Super Bowl .

And I would predict that New Orleans Wins in a High Scoring game .

Texans ended up 7th for the Year but down the stretch they were only 17th .

However , this can be a step up for the Team to play better .
According to the Statisticians , this is the FIRST time in over 200 games that Dallas has lead by 14 points in the first quarter , and has lost .
I would hope that in every game for the rest of the season , we will not be complacent again . Now , as we play in the fourth quarter , with any lead , we will remember the LEAD we lost . And even if we are losing , we can have faith , that if we are behind , we can catch up and win . just like the JETS did !

Going back to the Collapse :

Let us Count the Ways -
Romo’s Fumble ;
Romo’s Interception ;
Tashard Choice’s failure to convert on 3rd Down on a Dive play ; this failure is on the coaches ; Why would you put your smallest back in on short yardage ? The smart thing is to have a Bigger Back in for short yardage .
Blocked Punt returned for a TD ; again , this one is on the coaches ; the Jets were showing the same formation all game and the Dallas coaches did not compensate for it .

Finally , what ultimately doomed Dallas is that No one stepped up to make a Big Play.
Yes , D Ware had 2 sacks . But Ware and no one else stepped up on Defense to make The Big Stop ; No Big Stop , No Big Play .

Offense – No Big Play.

Lack of Big Plays by Offense and Defense Dooms Dallas .

After the devastation of this Loss , as I was moping around the next morning , my wife comes to me and says ,” You cannot watch football anymore if you act this way every time THEY lose. ”

Yes , I am back .
It’s as if they never left .

Has the Lockout muddled our die-hard fans’ hearts ?
Or have we missed football so much that this weekend’s games will reignite our passion for AMERICA’S GAME ?

From March 2011 thru July 2011, no football .
No mini-camps .
No trades .
No signings .

Just constant bickering between players and owners .
Finally , a last minute agreement .

Then training camp came and went .
No excitement .
In fact , every year we go to Training Camp for a day .
This year we skipped out .

4 Preseason games .
No excitement .
Every year , the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys play in the Preseason .
However, this year no game was scheduled .

Every year, the first regular season game starts a week of rituals leading up to the game .
No excitement .
No rituals .

Tonight is Friday night .
Sunday night is the big game .
Regular Season opener vs the New York Jets .
Jets favored by 4 1/2 points.
10th Anniversary of 9/11 .

The stakes couldn’t be higher .

Come Monday morning , when I wake up , I will know if me and football are partners again .

So Day 144 of the lockout continues .

I am hopeful that this owner / player disagreement continues a bit longer . I would like to see a few regular season games cancelled .

As a diehard fan , we are fully invested in the teams we follow . We spend our time , money , and emotions with OUR teams . But to the Owners and Players were a dollar sign . Our Teams help us fulfill our pathetic lives . In return , the Team & Owners suck our money and life essence from us .

It would be nice if they both suffer some economic pain .

My question to the Owners is Why ?
You claimed that the League was in dire straits and a new ” Equitable ” deal was the only way to survive . But in reviewing the details of the new deal , it seems that the Players got everything they wanted and more . What happened to the additional 1 billion deduction the owners needed from the top . They said this was absolutely essential !

However in the new deal , it was removed . Instead there was a new revenue sharing system that would reduce the current 50/50 split to a 53/47 split in the owners’ favor .

Even if this was true , I question why the voiding of the contract was necessary and the ensuing lockout .
ALL THIS FOR 3 % !!!! ( or $270 billion ).

As for the Players , their true character has shone through .
They are greedy and selfish people .
And for some their lack of character is evident.
The name calling and juvenile behavior is not limited to a few .
Taking the high road for most of the players is not evident .

When we win the Super Bowl , I will still be Fan Number One .
But this year , no Training Camp trips .
No expensive Fan Gear indulgences .
No special trips for gamedays .
In fact , I plan to sell my season tickets ?

Now I see the Players and Owners for what they Both truly are – Greedy and Selfish !!
Our love affair will never be the same .

Here’s to a 10 game schedule for 2011 !!

With the lockout still in place , there are no rookie mini-camps , or rookie meetings , etc .
When the season is finally played , I do not expect this year’s rookie crop to make much of a difference . Smith , OT , #1 pick , expected starter ; unless the lockout ends soon , do not expect much from him until after mid -season .

But seriously , football is not life and death .
And frankly , I am glad that the football season will be delayed .
I would be surprised if there were not any games to be missed .
In fact , do not be surprised that REAL PROGRESS will not happen until the the first game of the regular season approaches . Why ? Because that is when the players start collecting their paychecks . Their annual salaries are paid weekly over the 17 week regular season schedule .

Whose side am I on ? Neither !
I understand both positions .
But this is ALL about $$$$$$ !!
BOTH SIDES want more of it .

Who are the LOSERS ?
The Fans and the Regular Players .

I am a Season Ticket holder for the Houston Texans .
I made my first 20% payment in February .
I am sure that the payment due next week will have to be paid , and the following , etc.,
In fact , I will be paid up by the training camp date and if any games are missed , will I get a refund ? Probably No ; I bet that any credits will be applied to next year’s 2012 Season Tickets .

A Roster consists of 53 Players plus the Practice Squad .
20% of the Players earn 80 % of the revenues .
The normal players will have a short career span . Probably 3 to 4 years and the median career is about 5 to 6 years .

Even the Superstars are not immune to financial ruin .
Some of the ones that have went bankrupt – Tony Dorsett , John Elway , Mark Brunell , and others .
Few retain their wealth . The Roger Staubachs of the world are few and far between .

Tiki Barber is trying to make a comeback ; why ? He probably needs the money .
Even Troy Aikman who made probably over $50 million in his playing career , obviously needs money . Why else would he be doing so many commercials. Reliant Energy ; Rent A Center with a washed out Hulk Hogan !

Once Again , I am glad I will have NO Football for awhile .
I am GLAD that the GREEDY Players and Owners will have some measure of suffering .
I do not weep for them .
I weep for ALL us FANS and the regular working players .
